About
Sun, Country, & You (SCY) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization located just outside of Crookston, about 3 miles east, that was started in the summer of 2002. SCY is an unique organization that combines all aspects of nature and a wide variety of animals to promote a high quality of life to people of all ages and abilities. The main way we do this currently is through the classes we offer, but we also provide one-on-one sessions and limited therapeutic riding and driving as needed.
Parent/Child Team Horse Class
Sun, Country, & You is now offering a class where parents and their child(ren) work as a team to learn more about horses in a safe, hands on way. In this class, students will learn about safety and communication with these majestic animals.
Nature Explorers
Want to explore the wonders of animals and nature with your children? This class may be a fit for you and your family! A class where children are accompanied by a parent or other adult as they are provided with hands on experiences to delve into many different animal and nature topics. (examples of topics: farm animals, insects, Minnesota wild animals, trees and plants plus more!)
Kids & Horses
This class teaches students about the basic care of a horse, horse behavior, balance and exercise, and limited riding opportunities through hands on experiences with full sized and miniature horses. A healthy snack is provided during each class time.

Volunteer Opportunities
Assistant Teacher for Classes
This is someone who will come alongside the teacher during our Nature and Horse classes. The main responsibilities include maintaining safety of students and animals, assisting with set up and tear down for classes, redirecting students' focus if necessary, assist to engage students in class activities, and possibly leading small groups within hands on activities.
Daily Chore Helpers
This is someone who comes alongside other farm staff members in providing for the daily needs and cares of resident farm animals. Help is needed both during the week and during weekends. Some fence upkeep and pasture clean up may be included depending upon the season.
Web Design Opportunity and Advertising Assistance
SCY is looking for individuals who would be interested in developing a web site for the organization. Also looking for help with new ideas for advertising our services. This can include, but not limited to, brochures, fliers, and business cards.
Extra Helpers for Community Events
SCY often participates in other community events where some of our resident animals make an appearance. During these times extra hands for set up, clean up, and watching for animal and human safety is always needed. SCY may also be given different fund-raising opportunities where extra help would be necessary.
